The very first Apple Logo was designed by Ron Wayne and Steve Job in 1976 and appeared only on Apple I. The logo elaborate Isaac Newton sitting under an apple tree. The logo was soon rejected by Steve Job as he felt that its a little too intellectual.

In 1977, that Apple logo was changed by an art designer Rob Janoff. Its now a multicolored apple with a bite taken out off its right side and adorned with all the colors of the rainbow, albeit in the wrong order. This logo is also knows as rainbow apple. The colors suggested vibrancy and energy, but the wrong ordering of these colors suggested a break from the establishment- freedom, daring and enterprise, sentiments most befitting such a revolutionary technology. Another theory suggested that the motif of a multicolored apple with a bite taken out of it is a reference to the Bible story of Adam and Eve, in which the apple represents the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.

In 1997, Steve Jobs once again change the logo but this time only the color. Its now a single solid colored apple with the same bite.

After then Apple logo appeared in many colors, but now Apple has discontinued the use of bright colors in the Apple logo, instead opting for white and raw-aluminum color schemes. The polished chrome logo seems to fit ideally. The silvery chrome finish in the new Apple logo is consistent with the design scheme and freshens up the icon.
